Has your student failed a class? Perhaps it wasn’t even their fault. Regardless of the circumstance, Enlightium is committed to getting your student back on track!

You are probably wondering how failing a class will affect your student's GPA and whether or not they will be able to graduate from high school on time or get into college. It is not uncommon for worry, frustration, and even guilt to bubble to the surface when your child fails a class. You may have a lot of concerns, but it may not be as bad as you think. Enlightium Academy understands and we’re here to help!

Online Credit Recovery Program

Our flexible online Credit Recovery Program provides an opportunity for students who have failed a class to redo coursework or retake the course in an alternative way so they can earn the academic credit and avoid some of the consequences of failing a class. Students are more likely to care less about their education as their GPA declines, so it’s important to take additional steps to raise it incrementally.

With your counselor’s guidance, you can take advantage of our flexible Credit Recovery Program at any time during the school year and during the summer. If a credit recovery course is taken during the school year, you’ll simply work on that course alongside your regular courses. If you take only one credit recovery course for the duration of the summer, you should be able to complete the course by the start of the next school year.

Our Credit Recovery Program provides students with an opportunity to catch up with their peers, restore their confidence, and graduate on time!

Improve Your GPA

Failing a course will lower your GPA, but exactly how much will depend on the number of credits you’ve already earned and how many credits the course is worth. Credit recovery at Enlightium can improve your GPA if you retake a course and earn a better grade. If you previously failed the course, credit recovery will also help you earn credit towards graduation while also improving your GPA.

Earn Your Diploma

Oftentimes there’s only one course standing between a student and their high school diploma. In order to graduate and earn the credit, you will need to retake and pass the failed course. The best course of action is to speak with your counselor to not only find out what impact a failed course will have on your transcript but also provide you with direction on what you can do to graduate.

Pave the Way to College

If your future plans include attending a competitive college or university and you have failed a required course, then credit recovery may help you get there. Once you pass a credit recovery course, your transcript will reflect a higher GPA. With a higher GPA, you may also become eligible for scholarships to fund your education.

How Credit Recovery Works

Credit recovery courses are assigned to students who took a course but did not pass it. They are also assigned to students who have taken non-accredited courses at another school. By taking a credit recovery course, the student is able to test on different concepts, relearn material they do not understand and test out of the units they already comprehend. Here’s how it works.

Your counselor reviews your transcript and assigns credit recovery courses as needed
Students can recognize credit recovery courses in Ignitia because they are labeled “CRx”
Students take unit pre-tests to avoid repeating work that they have already mastered
Students will only be assigned lessons for material that you haven’t mastered
It is okay for students to work ahead and complete several assignments per day
Students can finish credit recovery courses early or on time to graduate

How Much It Costs

Credit recovery courses are included for full-time students taking a standard course load at Enlightium Academy. Additional credit recovery courses are charged at a per-credit rate and prices vary by tuition package.
