This course is designed to develop foundational literacy skills in young learners, focusing on letter recognition from Aa-Zz and the alphabetical arrangement of letters A-P. Students will learn to recognize their names, recall and infer details from stories, and dictate sentences for adults to transcribe. The curriculum emphasizes phonemic awareness, encouraging students to identify rhyming words and use letter-sound associations for all letters. Additionally, students will learn to use color words accurately and interpret a variety of fables, tales, and rhymes. Sequencing story events and reviewing both letter-sound associations and color words are key components, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging approach to early literacy development.

Students will explore chemical reactions, seasonal changes, and the life cycle of a pumpkin, alongside broader topics such as space exploration and the solar system. Additionally, the course covers the physical properties of matter, the four seasons, and various animals and their habitats, including dinosaurs, farm animals, zoo animals, pond creatures, garden inhabitants, and ocean life. Through these activities, students will develop a foundational understanding of the natural sciences and God’s world around them.

Required Electives

Fine Art Offline Elective: 

Fine Arts covers it all! Art, drawing, painting, crafts, music, dance. They can be done at home or a course taught in a more formal setting. Activities done for this course should be grade level and age appropriate. Students have the entire school year to complete 60 hours of fine arts, along with providing 3-5 photos or videos as evidence.

Physical Education Offline Elective:

Hiking, biking, dance, martial arts, and swimming are just the beginning of the long list of activities pre-kindergarten students can do for PE. Activities can be done at home or in a more formal setting, and they can be team sports and individual sports. Activities done for this course should be grade level and age appropriate. Students have the entire school year to complete 60 hours of physical activities, along with providing 3-5 photos or videos as evidence.
