This course is filled with engaging exercises designed to increase students' understanding and their desire to love and serve God. Students learn many details about the Old Testament, with the text constantly emphasizing the overall simplicity and unity of the story. To help the students see how the Bible tells one continuous story, a fold-out timeline of the entire Old Testament is included.

Topics explored:

In Heritage Studies 4, students embark on a captivating exploration of United States history. The curriculum integrates government, culture, economics, and geography, all presented from a biblical worldview. The course covers the period from post-Civil War rebuilding to World War II, with seven chapters dedicated to the regions of the United States. Each chapter includes stunning art, maps, timelines, graphs, photos, and quick-check questions. Some chapters also offer extended activities and biographies to enhance learning. Through this course, students gain historical insights while grounding their understanding of faith.

At the end of each chapter, comprehensive reviews reinforce understanding, and regular cumulative reviews help retain these math concepts. In this course, students delve into a fascinating array of scientific concepts. The curriculum covers characteristics of living things, insects and spiders, plants, forces and machines, electricity and magnetism, and the digestive and skeletal systems. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to think critically about science and to approach it from a biblical worldview. Each section concludes with Quick Check questions to assess understanding. The student text also provides instructions for engaging experiments, activities, and projects. Additionally, several units include worldview-shaping lessons from “Answers in Genesis”. Through this course, students not only explore the natural world but also deepen their understanding of God’s creations.

Spelling

Topics explored:

In this spelling course, students engage in a vibrant learning experience. The work text features colorful pages with activities such as word sorting, word studies, proofreading, dictionary skills, and writing. Thirty-two weekly spelling lists are included, each containing approximately 20 words. Through this course, students not only enhance their spelling abilities, but also develop effective communication skills.

Required Electives

Fine Art Offline Elective: 

Fine Arts covers it all! Art, drawing, painting, crafts, music, dance. They can be done at home or a course taught in a more formal setting. Activities done for this course should be grade level and age appropriate. Students have the entire school year to complete 60 hours of fine arts, along with providing 3-5 photos or videos as evidence.

Physical Education Offline Elective:

Hiking, biking, dance, martial arts, and swimming are just the beginning of the long list of activities 4th graders can do for PE. Activities can be done at home or in a more formal setting, and they can be team sports and individual sports. Activities done for this course should be grade level and age appropriate. Students have the entire school year to complete 60 hours of physical activities, along with providing 3-5 photos or videos as evidence.
