The worktext features a variety of engaging content, including Scripture passages, poetry, recipe writing, and thank you note creation to make learning enjoyable and memorable. As students progress, they practice matching uppercase and lowercase letters, writing neatly and legibly, and using proper posture. The course also reinforces letter names and sounds, aiding in the development of reading and spelling skills.

The textbook provides a comprehensive framework for learning, with each lesson accompanied by two pages of practice exercises to reinforce newly acquired skills and provide individualized assistance where needed. Spelling

Throughout this course, students will engage in a variety of dynamic activities aimed at strengthening spelling skills and enhancing overall communication abilities.

One of the key components of this course is the inclusion of thirty-two weekly spelling lists, each containing approximately twenty words. These carefully curated lists serve as the foundation for spelling instruction, guiding students through a systematic progression of spelling patterns, rules, and vocabulary words.

Moreover, this course goes beyond rote memorization to focus on building meaningful connections between spelling and communication. By engaging in writing tasks and proofreading exercises, students will not only refine their spelling skills but also enhance their ability to express themselves effectively in written form.

  • 32 weekly word lists (frequently used words, pattern words, and words with irregular spelling)

Required Electives

Fine Art Offline Elective: 

Fine Arts covers it all! Art, drawing, painting, crafts, music, dance. They can be done at home or a course taught in a more formal setting. Activities done for this course should be grade level and age appropriate. Students have the entire school year to complete 60 hours of fine arts, along with providing 3-5 photos or videos as evidence.

Physical Education Offline Elective:

Hiking, biking, dance, martial arts, and swimming are just the beginning of the long list of activities 2nd graders can do for PE. Activities can be done at home or in a more formal setting, and they can be team sports and individual sports. Activities done for this course should be grade level and age appropriate. Students have the entire school year to complete 60 hours of physical activities, along with providing 3-5 photos or videos as evidence.
