Reflecting on disobeying God
Introduction
Adam and Eve got kicked out of the Garden of Eden for disobeying God and they are putting the blame on each other because of how upset they are. Based on Genesis 3 and 4.
(Adam and Eve are walking in a brief silence, very upset)
Adam (In anger): Thanks a lot Eve. Now we can’t live in The Garden of Eden anymore.
Eve (Turns to Adam): Oh, so it’s my fault?!
Adam: Of course it is. You took a bite from the forbidden fruit!
Eve (Hesitates): Y-you did it too!
Adam (Hesitates also): W-well, you bite it first, and also, you told me to take a bite!
Eve: Why didn’t you stop me? You were there too!
Adam: The question is why didn’t you stop yourself.
Eve (Raises her voice): I ate it because the serpent told me to!
Adam (Stops for a minute): Why would you trust a talking serpent?
Eve (Starts sobbing): I don’t know! He said I would be just like God if I eat the forbidden fruit… Adam (Feels bad for Eve): Umm, did you not like the life God has given us?
Eve (Confused): What do you mean?
Adam: Were you not happy enough with what God gave us? Is that why you took a bite from the forbidden fruit? Just to think you will gain more knowledge?
Eve (Wipes some tears out of her eyes): I don’t know; maybe it was because the serpent said that I will know everything…
Adam: Oh..
Eve (Starts sobbing even more): I get it. It’s my fault. We could have still lived in the Garden of Eden if it wasn’t for me.
Adam: No, no, the serpent tricked you into doing it…..he tricked both of us.
(Eve says nothing and keeps sobbing)
Adam: But it was our fault for disobeying God.
Eve: Yeah, we should have stuck with what God told us to do…
Adam: And I should have stopped you before it was too late.
Eve: I should have stopped myself from doing it…
(A brief moment of silence)
Adam: We can’t fix what we did in the past, but we can fix our actions for the future.
Eve (Wipes tears from her eyes): Yeah…there is no going back.
Adam: Disobeying God resulted in both of us getting kicked out of the Garden of Eden. No matter what God says, no matter how crazy it is, we have to obey everything God says.
Eve: Yeah…you’re right…
Adam: God has said how we are gonna live now. We have to obey his words.
Eve: Well…how will we know?
Adam: Know what?
Eve: How to live like this, outside of the Garden of Eden?
Adam: I am not sure, but God will show us the way, and show us how to live.
Eve: Well…let’s go.
(Both Adam and Eve keep walking to start their new life)
