New Hampshire’s Educational Freedom Accounts
New Hampshire has a program called Education Freedom Accounts (EFAs), which provide eligible students with a certain amount of money that they can use to pay for private school tuition or other educational expenses. EFAs are available to students who live in New Hampshire and whose family’s income is at or below 350% of the federal poverty level.
Once a student is approved for an EFA, the state deposits funds into the student's account. The amount of funding varies based on the student's circumstances, but most recipients will receive at least $3,400 each year. The funds can be used to pay for private school tuition, textbooks, online courses, and other educational expenses.
To use the funds, families must submit documentation of their expenses to the New Hampshire Children’s Scholarship Fund via ClassWallet. The organization then verifies the expenses and pays for the expenses using the student's EFA account. For the most part, accounts using EFAs are subject to the same billing policies as households using personal funds to pay for their student’s expenses. Please see below for special policies regarding discounts and households that pay directly from a voucher system.
The New Hampshire Children’s Scholarship Fund has many helpful resources for families that may be eligible for EFA. You can view information about how to apply and use an EFA here.
*Please note that while Enlightium Academy is approved to accept EFA funds for eligible students, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to ensure that appropriate steps are taken for either direct voucher payment or reimbursement. If the necessary documentation is not requested or submitted properly, the parent or guardian bears the responsibility for their student’s tuition. In order to make sure your tuition payments are processed correctly and in a timely manner, please note on your student’s enrollment if you will be paying tuition with EFA funds.
